Gary was able to take me and a friend out during the off-season. It was clear how much Gary loves being on the water and showing people around Sitka's waters. His tours may be a little pricier than others, but after going on many I can confidently say it is more than worth it. His boat is very comfortable with viewing stations on the front and back. The boat is also much sturdier than others, so if you get sea sick easily this option will be much better for you.

Captain Gary and his crew really know their stuff and they will do everything in their power for you to see a whale on your trip. We saw more than 10 whales surrounding us two cute lil otters and a bunch of lounging sea lions! Such an amazing experience and this crew is high tier always checking to make sure everyone is feeling good and having a good time!

Amazing Whale Watching with Captain Gary!

This tour was hands down one of the best experiences we had in Sitka! Captain Gary knows these waters like the back of his hand, and it really showed. Right from the start, we felt like we were in great hands—his knowledge of the area and wildlife made all the difference.

The Morning Glory was super comfortable, with a heated cabin, big windows, and open decks that gave us awesome views. And the wildlife? Incredible! We saw humpback whales, sea otters, puffins, bald eagles, and even a bear along the shore.Gary knew exactly where to go, and his stories made the trip even better.

Unlike big crowded tours, this one felt personal and relaxed, like we were out with a friend who just happens to be an expert. If you’re looking for an unforgettable Sitka whale-watching tour, this is the one to book!

Amazing experience. With a lot of research I came across Captain Gary's and it did not disappoint. We were expecting to see lots of humpbacks, which we only saw a couple but that's okay because we got to see an ORCA! My 3 year old son has talked about it non stop since. Gary and all of the people we met were so kind. We saw so much wildlife and the tour was the highlight of our whole trip.

Wow 🤩 this trip with Captain Gary was the highlight of our 3 weeks in Alaska & west Canada. Cpt Gary worked hard to get us to places to see two bears on the shore, humpback whales fluking under a rainbow, stellar sea lions & sea otters 🥰 His boat is newly fitted out inside with large windows & comfy seating, everyone has a view. We loved the max group size of 16. We loved this trip so much we’ve booked again next year. Thanks so much Captain Gary

Had an incredible adventure with Captain Gary Late September! He was able to help us see some of the most beautiful parts of Alaska as well as get us on numerous whales, 2 bears, otters, and harbour seals. Captain Gary and his cousin provided the tour for us and were both very friendly, professional, and overall gave us the best experience possible. His Ship was beautiful, comfortable, and yeah, 5/5 stars wow wow wow!!!

Booked with Captain Gary for a whale watching trip for full family and grand child on our first trip to Alaska. We could have not been more pleased. Seen many whales, whales at full breach, coastal brown bears, stellar sea lions , seals and Bald Eagles. Overall a great trip with beautiful scenery and Captain Gary was very informative making for a great trip. Definitely would recommend.

TAKE THIS TOUR Caught her on the pier right off the cruise, of course I had my doubts because the last port was really pushy. But she was AMAZING!!! we had a wonderful time! Small bus great history tour along the way. Bryan even walked us to spots to see salmon and told is all about berries and pointed out wild life along the trails! We will be back 10/10!!

An excellent tour. Not only did we see at least 20 whales, but the group does everything they can to make sure you’re excursion is top-notch and you get to hang out with the cutest little pup in the world if you’re lucky. His name is Niko. We went out with Captain Gary. I’ve been on a few whale tours, and it’s rare a captain will go out of his way like Captain Gary did to make sure everyone had an opportunity to see and photograph the whales in the bay. As a photographer, I highly recommend them the next time you’re spending a day or longer in Sitka, Alaska.

What an awesome experience! My husband and I enjoyed this tour with Captain Gary very much. From start to finish, it was fun and exciting. We came from the cruise ship port by a free 10 minute shuttle. We boarded the boat which was new, clean and beautifully designed plus it had SUPER comfortable seats. Before we even left the local bay we saw multiple whales and seals. We went to several areas to see more amazing whales, salmon jumping out of the water, otters and a waterfall! We were able to sit inside or go on the front or back decks for photos or to hang out a bit and observe the natural beauty around us. As a fellow nature lover, It was fun that Captain Gary was excited to see the whales as well even after having grown up in Sitka and seeing them many times before. He was a wealth of knowledge about the wildlife and area, plus relaxed and easy going. I appreciate the details about the whales names and that he recently found out how some were related. This was our favorite tour of our entire cruise hands down. We'll recommend Captain Gary's Sitka Adventures to everyone traveling to the area!

I was absolutely blown away by how many different sea life we got to see. He went above and beyond to make sure we did see everything. I would definitely recommend him 100%!!

Capt. Gary is great, you won’t be disappointed. We had two little kids and two older folks in our group. Everyone was comfortable and had a great time. Felt safe and enjoyed all the wonderful views. Got to see sea otters, lots of whales and a bear catching his lunch. Unforgettable experience.

WOOOOW!!!! Honestly, I don’t know where to start. This was truly such an amazing tour - definitely not a cookie cutter one. Gary was super personable and engaging - taking us all over without hesitation. We saw loads of marine life - wales, sea otters, harbor sea lions, puffins, and more! We thought it was going to be a similar whale watching tour as the one we did in Juneau 2 days ago, but we were very wrong. This one was WAYYY better, and more reasonably priced too! Unlike other whale watching tours, he took us super close to the whales (not closer than the legal limit out of respect for the whales) instead of just stopping in one area and waiting for them to come. He also took us to this incredible island to look at puffins upon my request, and we even got to hang out in a cave for a bit. Seriously, this tour is worth every penny and more! It was one of the best parts of our 11-day trip! Thank you so much, Gary, for this unforgettable tour! We can’t wait to do this tour next time we are here!!

What an INCREDIBLE tour! We saw all sorts of whales, puffin, sea lions, salmon, bald eagles and harbor seals, etc. Gary’s passion and energy for people having a great time is palpable. Would HIGHLY recommend. It also says something that another couple on our tour was with Gary for the sixth time in 20 years. They won’t tour with anyone else when they visit Sitka. He also offered waters and snacks on the boat. Enjoy!!

Phenomenal! We had such a great excursion with Captain Gary in his immaculate new boat. Gary is super fun and knowledgeable and knows where to go to find the whales. We had lots of action and loved our experience. After watching whales we headed to the fish hatchery to spot some bears but didn’t see any and headed for the boat dock. However, when we were about half way, another boat told Gary that a bear came out. Rather than just keep heading for the dock, Gary turned around and went clear back so we could see the bear. Pretty unusual for a tour operator! We highly recommend Captain Gary if you plan to go whale watching in Sitka.
