Captain Gary is a local, knowledgeble, and fun Captain. Small boat tour with two easy to access decks besides all of the windows, and snacks too! I had a blast and saw so much: Coastal Brown Bears, Steller Sea Lions, 15+ humpbacks, and a raft of N Sea Otters! I highly recommend this tour.

This was the best excursion I’ve ever had.
We saw bald eagles, sea otters, sea lions, bears and whales.
Captain Gary’s boat holds about 16 people.
His boat is very sound and safe.
We had light snacks and drinks.
We are going again to Alaska in May and we will be booking with Captain Gary’s again we all loved it so much.

What an amazing Alaskan nature & whale watching experience.
Just to start Captain Gary and his Crew/Naturalist/Photographer (Caitlyn) were fantastic. They are extremely knowledgeable and helpful sharing with us local wildlife information on Bears, Eagles, Otters, Sea Lions and of course Humpback Whales, And yes we saw them all. The Boat was perfect in every way, looks great comfortable seating & rides very smooth even in choppy conditions, and I was blown away on how Quite the boat was. I highly recommend Captain Gary’s whale watching tour and will definitely book again on our next trip to Sitka Alaska. Well worth the price! Thank you Captain Gary & Caitlyn

Captain Gary's whale watching/wildlife excursion was absolutly amazing! Beautiful clean vessel, extremely informative, heated for those cold rainy days plus a bathroom. Our trip was 9/22/26, we encountered tons of whales, eagles, sea otters, brown bears with cubs and sea lions. It was truly amazing. Book in advance so your not stuck with some other excursion with 50 plus people. Captain Gary's vessel holds 14 with every seat having unobstructed views, plus viewing platforms on the front and rear. Thank you Captain Gary and your team for making this a once in a lifetime adventure!! We'll definitely be back.

I thought I was going on a whale watching tour and got an entire wildlife safari 😭 literally what my dreams were made of. We saw whales, bears including lil cubs, sea lions, otters, and eagles! The scenery was incredible, the boat was warm, cozy and the atmosphere was perfect. Highlight of my trip!

What an incredible day we had.
We started with Riley in his comfy van, and saw the town of Sitka. We visited the Fortress of the Bears, the Sitka National Historical Park, and the Raptor Centre. Riley was a wealth of information, giving us history and new information about this awesome little town.
Then he delivered us to Caitlin and Capt Gary on his custom boat. We saw wild bears, sea otters, sea lions and whales. Again, they were both a wealth of information and so hospitable to our group of 12 (6 kids and 6 adults).
I wasn’t sure what to expect of Sitka, but these guys absolutely blew us all away and helped us fall in love in a beautiful town.

We had an absolutely amazing experience on this wildlife excursion! Gary and Caitlyn were great- Friendly and passionate about the local wildlife and environment. We were able to see all the animals and sea animals that we had hoped to! i

The entire trip was well organized, comfortable, and exceeded our expectations. It was the perfect balance of adventure, education, and breathtaking scenery. If you’re visiting the area and want an unforgettable experience, I highly recommend this excursion. It was one of the highlights of our trip, and we would gladly do it again!

THIS IS THE WHALE WATCHING TOUR TO DO!!!!! It was truly amazing. Captain Gary and Caitlyn were fabulous and we saw so many whales, bears, otters, and seals! We had the BEST time and his boat is beautiful and comfortable.

Captain Gary and crew provided a lifetime of memories for me and our group of 12. Spectacular day cruising around. Saw eagles, bears, salmon, whales, otters and seals. Oh my! Highly recommend.

Thank you so much for an amazing time yesterday Gary. Your tour of the Ocean to see the Whales and other sea wildlife along with the bears was fantastic. You were some accommodating and looked after everybody’s wishes.The size of your boat was also great as it was just the right size (not too small and not too big to be overcrowded. As you know we gad booked the land tour with you for after lunch. Once we had eaten in the Smokey restaurant we were going to cancel and head back to the Ship as we felt our day was complete. We are so so pleased we didn’t. Our day just got better and better with Ryan. His personality and knowledge was brilliant and we had such a great time with him seeing the Fortress of the Bear, Raptor centre for Birds and Totem Heritage Centre. Great to meet you all for an experience my wife and I will never forget. Thank you again.

Belated post but I had such a wonderful time going out on the boat with Caitlyn and Gary. 10/10 would do it again! Amazing wildlife, knowledgeable, kind staff and fun for all! I definitely would recommend this company to anyone in Sitka! Mahalo for the great time you guys 🤙

I cannot recommend Captain Gary’s Sitka Adventures enough. While on his vessel today, we saw bears, eagles, whales breaching, sea otters, sea lions. The entire experience was amazing from beginning to end. But perhaps the best part was the time spent with Captain Gary and Caitlyn. They are both so knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife. If you are planning an Alaskan cruise that stops in Sitka, book this excursion immediately! It was EPIC!

Don’t go anywhere else!!!! Local people who love what they do. The boat was comfortable, very welcoming and knowledgeable. We saw salmon, bears, otters, sea lions, and whales- all around us! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!

Captain Gary and deck hand Caitlyn are so much fun to spend time with. There knowledge and love for Sitka and the wildlife makes the time spent with them both fun and a great learning opportunity. If you are stopping in Sitka do not miss this tour.

This was such an amazing experience! The best part about booking with Captain Gary is that he’s from Sitka and isn’t part of some big company. You can genuinely tell that he loves what he does and takes pride in sharing his hometown with people.

He knows Sitka inside and out and gave us so many great recommendations for places to eat, explore, and experience the area that I don’t think you could get from a larger tour company. His deckhand, Caitlyn, was also incredibly knowledgeable about Sitka’s plants and animals and added so much to the experience. Captain Gary went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time and really made the experience feel personal.

If you’re visiting Sitka, I highly recommend booking with Captain Gary. You won’t regret it!

Gary and Caitlyn were fantastic. We saw many whales, Stellar sea lions and sea otters. The boat was comfortable and they were welcoming with snacks and waters. Both were very informative. At the end, Caitlyn air dropped fabulous photos of the whale tails to us.
