We had an incredible day out on the water with Gary for his first outing of the season in early March. He was very communicative throughout the week leading up to our outing to check in with us regarding weather and wind, as we had some snowstorms and high winds blow through and nobody else had their boats on the water this early. We made it out, and ended up having a great day—we saw around 10 humpback whales or so, maybe more. It seemed like there were spouts popping up in every direction! We got to see a few half breaches and lots of flukes. Gary helped us to ID one of the whales from her tail scars. His deep knowledge of the area and passion for the water and local wildlife made for a really enjoyable experience. The boat was cozy and warm which was lovely on such a cold and snowy day. Would choose his company again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend!

Awesome trip! Starting off on water! Numerous whales, matter of fact one right in front of our boat! Gary was great informed us everything on our trip! See otters! Second part of trip was with Ryan (Land) We when to see where Bald Eagles rehab a raptor center then next when Bears rescue center ! Then we went to state park see totem poles! Great way to spend the day in Sitka!

We did The Best of Sitka tour yesterday with Captain Gary’s Sitka Adventures, and it was amazing! Our guide, Riley, was fantastic! He was super friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience so fun and easy.

Captain Gary is amazing! Although he is usually booked, we reached out on the same day, and he managed to fit us in. Scheduling was incredibly easy. His deckhand, Abigail, was very helpful in making sure we found the boat. Captain Gary's passion and knowledge are unmatched. We saw numerous whales, which was truly outstanding. Additionally, he took us to Bear Cove, where we spotted a bear! The boat was new, clean, comfortable, and safe. It was a fantastic experience! Thank you, Captain Gary, Abigail, and Niko! I highly recommend them!

We went with Captain Gary on the whale watching tour with 14 people and we were all blown away! Not only is Sitka beautiful but Captain Gary is so knowable, friendly and goes over and above to make sure you have the experience of your vacation! We saw killer whales, sea otters, eagles, sea lions and a feeding frenzy of hump back whales! Truly magical. 1000% recommend Captain Gary!!

We did the whale watching tour on our recent cruise to Alaska, and Captain Gary did not disappoint! We spotted at least ten whales. The boat was very comfortable and I loved their pooch! Highly recommend them for anyone looking to do whale watching in Sitka.

My husband and I had an amazing time with Captain Gary…we had whale sitings almost immediately!! Sea lions and otters too! Was a great day! Highly recommend!

We did a Sights of Sitka tour with Capt Gary's and had Ryan as our guide who was fantastic!! He was very informative of the area, history, etc. He even stopped at the one lake so we could take some quick pictures which turned out beautiful! If I'm ever in Alaska again I would use them again.

We had such an amazing time with Captain Gary! From when he welcomed us onto his boat, the Morning Glory, to the last second when helping us disembark, he was kind, courteous, and friendly. He was helpful with my 78 year old mother, talkative with my 12 year old daughter, and patient and knowledgeable when any passengers asked questions. Capt.Gary is from Sitka and knows the waters and the wildlife. We saw humpback whales, sea lions, and otters, as well as salmon. I would definitely do this tour again with him!!

Captain Gary and Koali are Sitka treasures! Do not hesitate to book with them. We booked the full day best of Sitka tour - a year in advance!

Our morning started on the water with Captain Gary - he was kind, funny, knowledgeable and truly wanted to share this part of his corner of the world with us. He enjoyed the hunt for whales as much as we did and found joy in our thrill of seeing these majestic creatures! Plenty of humpback whales - he knew exactly where they would be, sea otters, sea lions, gulls, common Muirs and bald eagles. This experience is our favorite during our time in Alaska. He treated us all like family, caring for everyone and checking in often to be sure everyone was good during our time together.

In the afternoon we were able to see all the places on land you should see during a first visit to Sitka. Our guide Ryan was great with humor and interesting insights to guide us along the way. Koali met us in town to be sure we got where we needed to be in the afternoon - she was kind but firm - exactly what is needed to get groups moving efficiently and on time. She wanted to be sure everyone was able to see all they signed up for.

For those with a high need for communication - they have you covered here too! VERY responsive and detailed communication the day before and morning of our tour.

We are planning a return trip to Sitka and Captain Gary will see us again!!

You know how there is always that one shore excursion that ends up being the highlight of your vacation? This was definitely it. We had such a great time with Captain Gary.

There is something truly special about Sitka, and seeing it from the water made it even more memorable. We saw so many whales, and Captain Gary’s passion for the area, especially since it is his hometown, really added to the experience.

The boat was small and intimate, which made everything feel personal and relaxed. I really do not enjoy those big cruise tours where you are herded around like cattle. This was nothing like that. The boat was spotless, well-kept, and comfortably fit our large family of 14.

We absolutely loved our time out on the water, and I genuinely hope to visit Sitka again someday.

Also, don’t forget to ask Captain Gary for recommendations on places to visit or eat in town.

Just had an exceptional experience on Captain Gary’s adventure. The boat ride was smooth allowing my family and I to feel safe & secure despite the rough weather. We were able to explore so many different areas of the Sitka sound and spot various types of wildlife. The captain was very knowledgeable and passionate about the wildlife and the area. I was especially pleased with how often he checked in with passengers and explained the routes. If you’re looking for a tour to do in Sitka, I’ve done many tours out here and I would highly recommended this one overall!

Amazing time on Captain Gary’s boat ride !

Full disclosure, Gary is my cousin. With that said, we came across the largest group of killer whales, approximately 20, I have ever seen which is saying something when you grow up in Alaska. Gary's background chartering and living in Sitka year round gives him unparalleled insight on the wildlife around Sitka.

Went out with Capt Gary and Abigail this morning. Could not have been better. Lots of whales. Even a double tail. Furst mate Niko ran a tight ship. Very comfortable vessel. Best we saw while we were there
